HOMECOMING PARADE THIS WEEKEND
Westminster Mayor Nancy McNally, a long-time supporter of Westminster Public Schools, will be in the spotlight at this weekend’s Homecoming Parade. She was named the honorary Grand Marshall for this year’s parade on Saturday at 10 a.m.

“Nancy has always participated in our parade, and we thought this was a good time to celebrate her support for WPS and public education in general,” said Superintendent Jeni Gotto. “She has always been at our side and we want everyone to know it.”

During her lengthy career as a public servant, McNally has had a special place in her heart for children. From 1989 to 1997 she served on the Jefferson County Board of Education, for two years as Board Chair.

Over the weekend, students and parents gathered at Westminster High School to build floats for this year’s parade with “Candyland” as the theme.

This year’s route is similar to last year’s but will be one block shorter to not tie up traffic along Meade Street near 72nd and Lowell. Westminster police are helping to coordinate the route with district leaders’ local businesses and residents.

The parade will start in the parking lot of Westminster High School and make its way north on Bradburn to East 73rd Avenue. It will head east to Newton and then turn South on Newton Street.
