A Creative Partnership: North Metro Arts Alliance & Westminster Public Schools

For decades, Westminster Public Schools (WPS) has enjoyed a vibrant partnership with the North Metro Arts Alliance (NMAA). Supported by the City of Westminster and the Hyland Hills Recreation District, this collaboration ensures that our students and teachers have the resources they need to let their creativity shine.

To keep this connection strong, the WPS Board of Education maintains a seat on the NMAA board. Currently, Board Member Dan Orecchio serves as the NMAA Secretary, advocating for our schools and helping direct vital funding into our classrooms.

Empowering Young Artists Since 1983

The NMAA is a non-profit dedicated to enriching our community through the arts. Funded in part by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), the Alliance focuses heavily on inspiring the next generation of creators by providing educational opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

Impact in Action: Recent Projects

While the NMAA’s contributions are vast, here are a few ways they are currently supporting WPS students:

  • NMAA grants have funded guest artist visits, field trips, and private instrument lessons. Most recently, they provided the canvases and paint for the popular "Painting with Parents" event at Flynn.
  • The Alliance recently fully funded two new electric kilns for the Westminster High School ceramics department.
  • NMAA provides stipends for teachers leading our annual Summer Arts Series through the Creative Arts Pipeline.
  • The NMAA provides full sponsorship for the Missoula Children’s Theatre to host a week of professional instruction and performances, including this year’s production of The Little Mermaid at Metropolitan Arts Academy starting June 8.
  • In partnership with Melody Musical Theatre, NMAA partially funded last summer’s production of Shrek and is continuing that support for this summer’s production of Newsies. Get Involved: Auditions for Newsies are currently being held at Metropolitan Arts Academy and Westminster High School!
